It is one of the oldest herbs known to mankind, tulsi's healing and healthful properties have been the most treasured knowledge across the world. Holy Basil or Tulsi, is considered sacred in Hinduism and is worshiped as 'Goddess of Devotion' in many of the Indian households.

Shyama tulsi, also known as 'dark tulsi' or 'Krishna tulsi,' is a variety having dark green/purple foliage and a purple stem. Tulsi or holy basil is an auspicious plant that also comes packed with umpteen health benefits.

Tulsi is extremely beneficial for humans from warding off some of the most common ailments, strengthening immunity, fighting bacterial & viral infections to combating and treating various hair and skin disorders.

‘Krishna’ or ‘Shyama Tulsi,’ also known as Purple Leaf Tulsi, is renowned for its peppery, crisp flavor. It features striking purple-colored leaves and dark stems. Valued in traditional medicine and culinary uses, this variety of tulsi is celebrated for its aromatic properties and health-promoting benefits.

Tulsi is an erect, much branched sub-shrub 30-60 cm tall, with simple opposite green or purple leaves [Figure 1] that are strongly scented and hairy stems. Leaves have petiole and are ovate, up to 5 cm long, usually somewhat toothed

Tulsi Vana is a ceremonial plant of Indian spiritual tradition. It is a perennial, woody bush basil that can grow up to 2m high with highly aromatic, slightly hairy green leaves with a strong clove scent and spicy flavor. Tulsi Vana must be protected from frost and in temperate areas it can be grown as an annual.
